A quarter of Internet users in the United States and Europe do not watch TV – Lenta.ru

About 26 percent of Internet users in the United States and Western Europe did not have a TV at least once a day, preferring to watch TV on your computer using video broadcasting services in Internet networks (OTT, over-the-top services). This is evidenced by the results of research to market research firm Strategy Analytics.

The study was conducted in the fourth quarter of 2013, with the participation of more than six thousand Internet users.

The remaining 74 per cent of Internet users anyway watching television, but are in the process of viewing different.

Some 33 percent of respondents while watching programs on TV are not distracted by other communication activity. They do not discuss with other transmission are viewing using phone calls, SMS messages, instant messengers, or through social networks.

Another 18 percent of viewers are viewing the transmission comment on Twitter and follow the reviews of her other network users. And the other 12 per cent of people using mobile phones to exchange views on the transfer.

In Russia, the situation with the popularity of television is different. According to the company Synovate Comcon, weekly audience of the Internet in Russia is 62.6 percent of the population older than 10 years, while the television audience and a half times as many – 92.9 percent.
