LG released the OLED-TV with support for HDR-Technology – Digital Media

 

LG Electronics (LG), together with a number of leading broadcasters and content providers will demonstrate the possibilities of HDR-technology at its booth at the International Exhibition IFA 2016 consumer electronics in Berlin. This demonstration is designed to emphasize the leading LG’s position in the global television industry, and visitors will get a chance to see for HDR-content on the LG TVs the OLED screens. At the booth, you can see how to improve the quality of content in the application of technologies Dolby VisionTM HDR and Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG).

OLED-TVs LG already support both open HDR10 format and Dolby VisionTM format preferred by filmmakers and content providers. All major studios hold Dolby VisionTM format for movies, as many providers of content is the default format for streaming services.

During the exhibition IFA LG partners will hold several demonstrations, one of which will include the transfer of HLG-content using the ASTRA satellite network and terrestrial systems of the British broadcasting Corporation (BBC). HLG – the new standard for the HDR, jointly developed by the BBC and NHK (Japan). It uses a single distribution bitstream that can be decoded as a special HDR-receivers, and earlier receivers, which is not implemented HDR function. The new standard allows broadcasters to transmit high-quality streaming dynamic HDR-content in recording and real-time, making the HLG ideal for broadcasters HDR-services.

in addition, IFA 2016 exhibition, the company will demonstrate the first LG HDR technology combines high frame rate (HFR) to HLG-content. However, the BBC and the European Broadcasting Union, LG will show content HFR HLG, compatible with MPEG DASH transmission systems (streaming via IP-based networks) and DVB-T2. HFR – is a new technology designed to improve image quality by transmitting Ultra HD 100/120 frames per second. Due to such a high frequency of movement of the screen frame looks more smooth and realistic.
