Medvedev: Russian TV over the top with gang violence - Fontanka

Russian television should show life in all its diversity, without going over the top with a demonstration of gang warfare, says Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

“As for television. Frankly, I, too, of course, not all of the love that show. Could not disagree with you that a number of important social order falls out of the television agenda” – said Medvedev at a meeting with veterans of the Great Patriotic War in Krasnogorsk.

Prime Minister noted that despite the fact that the conditions of the existence of television since the Soviet times have changed and it should make money on their own, yet “it should show life as it really is”.

“But life does not consist of gang warfare, thank God. Instead, it is the side of life, and they are, unfortunately, very often excessive focus on this concentrated to attract the attention of viewers” – said the prime minister.

According to Medvedev, the Russian television channels should follow the example of those countries where television shows and more modern life in all its diversity, including the lives of ordinary people: workers, engineers, military personnel, those working in rural areas.

“This is sure to capture and movies, and documentaries. This does not mean it is not there at all, but, of course, all of this was spent on the periphery,” – he said.

Nothing wrong with the Prime Minister does not see and to show old movies on television.

“Young people – it is the only way that they want to watch only Hollywood.’s not entirely true: many of them love watching movies and war movies 70-80-ies. Speaking of our military film, I think, the best of his designs – this is a unique film, “- said Medvedev, citing the epic” Liberation “. According to the head of government, contemporary filmmakers need to learn from the best examples of the old Soviet and Russian cinema.
