Kazakhstan has banned television and radio with a small amount of content in the Kazakh language - Today.kz

Kazakh TV channels and radio stations are breaking the law on the required number of programs in the Kazakh language, reports Bnews.kz

reported the Ministry of Culture and Information on the results of monitoring of the national media. Thus, in accordance with the Law “On languages”, the amount of TV and radio programs on television and radio channels, regardless of their form of ownership, in the official language in time should not be less than the total amount of TV and radio programs in other languages.

According to the Ministry of Mukhtar Kul-Muhammed, the volume of broadcasting during the year a number of Kazakh TV channels do not comply with the legislation.

During the meeting with the heads of the Ministry of TV channels, it was announced that under the law of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in the case of infringement of the rules on languages, the perpetrators will apply administrative measures – from imposing a fine (from 10 to 1000 MCI) to the suspension of the channel for a period of 3 months before the withdrawal of the license for the organization of the body or radio broadcasting and the ban on the broadcast.
