Lithuanian TV suspended broadcasting of the First Baltic Channel - Open Democracy

Lithuanian provider of cable television services Cgates suspended broadcasts of the First Baltic Channel in connection with the alleged distortion of the events in 1991 which was broadcast on Channel program “Man and Law”, according Cgates.

Cgates reports of a large number of complaints from its subscribers on the content of the transmission, which were shown interviews with the men of the “Alpha”, storming the Lithuanian Television Center January 13, 1991. The parties journalists claimed that they are accused of crimes they did not commit.

Since Lithuania denial of crimes of the USSR or Nazi Germany against the Lithuanian people is a criminal offense, the Commission on Radio and Television of Lithuania launched an investigation.
