Samsung will show at IFA 2014 bendable 105 “4K TV – hifi News.RU

As for OLED TVs, Samsung can keep up with the opponent’s LG Electronics, but for the development of flexible taste of viewers of television screens company is pleased to demonstrate its priority, or at least parity with the compatriots from other Korean firm.

The South Korean company has long been committed to the principle of “the more, the better,” as evidenced by the line of smartphones. Now decided to apply the same philosophy and Television with the launch of the world’s largest to date of a flexible UHD TV. Huge 105-inch flexible display the company is going to show at the IFA in Berlin at the beginning of next month.

Ultra HD Monster (pre-release version called UN105S9B) from Samsung for some time been crafted. Manufacturer actually makes the concept of 85-inch flexible UHDTV in January at CES in Las Vegas, and then began to sell a truncated 78-inch version. Samsung does not disclose too many details about its latest flexible model, with the exception of size, but we can assume that it is not too different from their smaller counterparts. This means that we can expect such features as UHD Dimming Technology and panel Black Crystal, which combine improved contrast and scattering of illumination sources.

TV 105S9B are based on LCD panels, while LG has already achieved some progress with flexible OLED displays. Samsung but has not yet been able to produce even simple and not flexible OLED televisions. So bendable OLED-s from Samsung we will see probably not soon.

As far as the quality of your TV must be flexible, it is a different issue. Proponents of the technology argue that viewers can change the bend angle of the display to optimize your viewing experience, although if you want they can leave it in the form of a flat screen. In any case, all this “flexibility” is controlled with the remote.

Whatever the merits of bendable displays, it is clear that Samsung hopes to become a leader in this segment of the market, even if it is likely to remain only “niche” for some time. This is due to the fact that televisions UHD still clearly higher than 1080p HD television sets, but also because of the lack 4K content. All this makes it difficult to justify the purchase of conventional Ultra HD TV, not to mention flexible. A recent study of The Diffusion Group notes that 4K TVs will not be subject to the mass market in 2019.

Exhibition IFA 2014 (for more details about the event) in Berlin kicks off next week, and Samsung, is expected to show a total of more than 120 TVs, including a bunch of curved UHD TVs, as well as several less bent on command from the console.
