Which: “Your TV is watching you, Bart!” – VSE42 News

The experts studied the traffic generated by the TV companies LG, Samsung, Sony, Panasonic and Toshiba. And they came to the conclusion that the producers of these TVs collect a lot more than your personal data than they need.

After making an agreement with the manufacturer of “smart” TV’s owner not only gets the opportunity to watch personalized television content. He becomes an object, followed by “watching” television itself.

After a while a manufacturer knows the family addiction, has built-in browser search history, information about the currently playing video files on your TV, knows the location of the client’s home, these accounts in providing media -services provider. Even the names of family members, obtained from the analysis of the family archive, view on TV.

Although the TV received data is sent to the manufacturer’s server is encrypted, but the encryption level from the point of view of experts, is not sufficient, and some data is sent there and all unencrypted.

Experts say that if the buyer does not want the TV “watching him” and abandon the user agreement with the manufacturer of the TV – almost all brands greatly reduce functional TV.

So, Panasonic blocks in this case all of the functionality that requires access to the Internet, LG blocks execution of applications, Samsung and Toshiba are blocking any access to collections of TV channels.

The functionality is not affected only by a Sony TV which vanishes only opportunity to receive advice on view content.
