Survey: Most young people watching TV – News Economy

Institute of modern media (MOMRI) found that 70% of Russian adolescents and young adults up to 25 years watching cartoons

In December 2015 -. January 2016. by order of the “Digital TV” MOMRI conducted the first phase of a comprehensive study of media preferences of the population of megacities Russia. The first phase was devoted to the study of media consumption of adolescents and youth aged 14-25 years.

The study showed that despite the stable stereotypes, teenagers and young people watching TV and quite a lot. About half of the young people who participated in the study, watch television on a daily basis.

For the age group 10-17 years, TV is also a popular leisure activity:. It looks in their free time spent at home. Teens are more likely than older people, called the TV way of entertainment (29%) and less likely to watch it as a background. Teenagers often watch TV together with someone from the family members, parents and affect the way they look.

Since 18 years of TV viewing is an “adult” in nature. On average, 20% of viewing television content in the background. 22-25-year-olds watch television more often on weekends and in the evening, and less during the day.

At the same time young men perceive television as a “news source” (34%) and “a source of entertainment” (21%). For girls TV – this is primarily entertainment, leisure activity, background for other things

In most cases, young people prefer to watch the news, comedy shows, sitcoms, soap operas.. The young men greater interest are programs about sport and training, science subjects, information technology. Girls are more interested in travel, music, cinema, animals and nature.

In addition, the study found the age differences in the preferred content. Teens 14-17 years interested in sports programs. 18-21-year-olds often interested in the transfer of the leisure and entertainment. Young people aged 22-25 years old prefer to transfer scientific and informative topics, travel.

At the same time in all age groups, about 70% of respondents said they watch cartoons. The girls talked about it more often than boys
