A quarter of Internet users in Europe and the United States do not watch TV – Telekomza

The research firm Strategy Analytics found that 26% of Internet users in Europe and the United States may be in for a day never turn on the TV. Television programs they watch on a computer on the Internet. All were interviewed about 6,000 people at the end of 2013.

The other respondents (74%) who watch TV, revealed different patterns of behavior during playback. Thus, 33% watching TV, do not discuss the transfer with other people. 12% of the audience to discuss the transfer with your friends on a cell phone, 18% send messages to Twitter and read tweets from other users. Another 11% of viewers watching the program along with looking for information about it on the Internet.


In the West, there is quite a large list of alternatives to traditional television including cable. This video services like Netflix and Hulu, broadcasters sites where you can watch the same transmission as in the air, as well as online shops where you can buy or rent movies. As a result, the audience airtime for several years has steadily declined.

In Russia, more people watch TV. According to the Synovate Comcon, weekly audience of television is 92.9%, which is one and a half times higher than that of the Internet. But if you talk about trust television, in Russia it is the first time in two years surpassed by this index the Internet. In the first half of 2014 Internet trust 41% of Russians, television – 42.4%. Prior to that, there was a tendency, when Internet trusted more and more people.
