Presented recently updated interface superMHL provides advanced capabilities for connecting sources including super high resolution. superMHL doubles the bandwidth, enabling lite transmit video 4Kp60, and also provides support for extended color spaces. In the maximum configuration provides superMHL 8Kp120 resolution and color signal of 4: 2: 0 36 bits.
At least in the short term will be the only option superMHL interface 8K TVs, and Samsung has already introduced the technology in its perspective superMHL TV with a resolution of 8K, which can be seen in the past in the beginning of January’s CES 2015.
It is not known how long superMHL will be the only interface to 8K. In addition to high throughput, superMHL has a number of other technological advantages. These include reversible connector and the ability to transmit over the power cord, which will give an advantage over HDMI, though, it will not be great.
Still, superMHL able to maintain 4Kp60, easier to use with mobile devices. With the introduction of the new cable and connector superMHL TV manufacturers will have a single universal cable for all TVs, including forward-looking model with a resolution of 8K.
