Greek Parliament adopted a new law on public television - Fontanka

Greek parliament adopted a new law on public television NERIT, which should replace the closed June 11 Greek state radio and television (ERT).

Over 155 people voted for the law, against – 104, one abstention. Members of the far-right party “Golden Dawn” did not participate in the vote.

Greek government on June 11 announced the elimination of ERT and dismissal of all employees – 2,6 thousand people. Instead, the government decided a new organization – NERIT («New Greek radio, Internet and television”). After the close of ERT in Greece went on strike for over a week all media. ERT employees still refuse to leave the rear of the Palace of the radio.
