Poland fully switched from analog to digital television - TASS-Telecom

WARSAW, July 23. / Correspondent. ITAR-TASS Irina Polina /. Poland has completely abandoned analog broadcasting. The country today transmitters turned off last picture and sound of this standard, replacing it with a digital TV.

With this transition, the people of Poland have access to two dozen channels broadcast via three digital multiplexes.

“Replacing traditional analogue signal transmission techniques with modern digital technology – one of the most important projects in the sphere of public life, bringing together social, economic and technical aspects,” – said, summing up the process, the Ministry of Administration and the digital republic.

The transition process began in Poland in November last year and was carried out in seven stages, each of which involved the shutdown of analog TV transmitters in different regions. Local residents informed in advance of the need to purchase decoders or on equipped televisions, allowing to receive digital signals.

According to the end of June, among the citizens of the Republic, having access only to the terrestrial transmission channels, the proportion receiving digital television signals was 95 percent.
