Sony Corporation today announced the upcoming launch of a new project in the U.S. – a new type of television Internet service, based on the “cloud” technologies. On his plans to conquer the U.S. television market Sony Corp. announced at the ongoing Las Vegas International Consumer Electronics Show. Just how serious they are and how much hope for this project the company imposes, testified that about him personally announced Sony CEO Kazuo Hirai.
Corporation plans to launch its own television service that allows consumers to watch live programs and content “on demand” on the screens of their computers, tablets, smart phones and game consoles PlayStation. As noted in the company, the new service provides unlimited opportunities for consumers, starting with personalized menus for different family members and ending with the possibility to start watching this or other transfer, such as a tablet and finish viewing already on your gaming console.
This service is not offered for the first time. Earlier, a similar product company announced Intel, but its Internet TV project was closed after the company failed to get the rights to film screenings and programs known broadcasters. Joint project with the same Sony Google – Google TV, which was later renamed Android TV, – was perceived extremely cool. Nevertheless, the new project of the corporation may be more successful.
Experts say that Sony achieved a key success – to conclude agreements for the right to transmit content from leading manufacturers. Agreement with Viacom, reports Bloomberg, seemed to have been reached, negotiations with CBS, NBCUniversal and Fox Networks are at an advanced stage. Of course, the corporation already has an agreement with a private manufacturer – Sony Pictures Entertainment.
