In October, Bulgaria switch to digital TV - Magazine Mediasat

October 1, Bulgaria will switch to digital terrestrial television broadcasting. Thus, in less than a month analog television will remain in the country in the past. On Tuesday the deputy of the Ministry of Transport, Information Technologies and Communications of Georgi Todorov.

According to him until September 12 will be signed contracts with suppliers of television sets, which will then be given a second wave of residents who have received the right to acquire a voucher. The decision to cease analog broadcasting in Bulgaria will be taken at a meeting of the Special Committee for digitization, which will take 13 or 16 September.

At this point in the three DVB-T multiplexes broadcasts are seven TV channels: BNT 1, BNT 2, Bee Tee Vee, Nova TV, TV 7, “Nyuz 7″ and “er Blgariya it.” Subsequently, it is expected that there will be 11 channels, and this is only the first phase of digitization of terrestrial television in Bulgaria. In the future, when they are running other multiplexes will increase the number of television programs.

However, the process of digitization has its drawbacks. According to preliminary information, 5% of the population will not be able to receive the digital signal, which is about 400,000 people, which in turn violates the state constitution, which stipulates that every citizen is entitled to free access to information. That is why the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications postpones the transition of the country to digital broadcasting, advertising campaign which has already been demonstrated in six months on national television.

According to a correspondent Mediasat, this month on the Bulgarian TV will launch a new information campaign that will explain that 5% of the population will not have access to the digital terrestrial signal. However, today there are places where the signal reception is non-existent, in which whatever format. The experts note that in Germany, digital terrestrial television can see 80% of the population, while in Spain – 75%.

In this case, the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications calculated with the start of digitalization for analysis and relevant calculations for the reception of digital signal 100%-mi population. It is planned to build several more transmitters or ensure the reception of television programs via satellite or cable TV.

Earlier, Bulgaria planned to make the transition from analog to digital television on September 1.
