Turn off analog TV in Russia is scheduled for 2015 - Urban hour news channel

Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network” is preparing a special program to shut down analog TV in Russia.

According to the developed program, turn off the analog TV will be possible if they remain no more than 5% of households, which is the only source of analogue TV signal, the newspaper “Kommersant” referring to the deputy CEO of RTRS Viktor Pinchuk.

According to him, turning off analog TV will free up frequencies for the construction of the third multiplex (package of channels that broadcast on the same frequency). In the TV off also interested whose channels are included in the 2nd multiplex, because now they have to pay for the distribution of analog and digital TV.

Introduce the program to the government planned for the end of September. The document will be fixed approach to the definition of analogue switch-off date for each region separately.

Accordance with international obligations, Russia should abandon the analog TV at least in the border regions to June 17, 2015. Now digital TV is not running in 8 of the 83 regions of the country.
