NASA will close its television because of the budget crisis - Reuters

MOSCOW, October 1 – RIA Novosti. The U.S. space agency NASA on the fiscal crisis in the U.S. will be forced to, among other things, to stop the broadcast of its operations on the site and channel NASA TV, the agency said.

Financing federal government agencies in the United States stopped for the first time in 17 years: Congress failed to reach a compromise on the budget. Formally, the government offices stopped work at midnight on Tuesday local time (8 am MSK). In the new fiscal year that begins Oct. 1 in the United States, a country without entering the state budget, which had to reconcile the two houses of Congress.

“Among the activities that you plan to quit, <...> NASA Television and the work site – the citizens will not have access to translations of NASA operations and regular broadcasts, as well as access to the site” – NASA says the plan in the event of termination of funding, the agency in the administration of U.S. President.

At the moment, NASA TV broadcasts reruns of previous programs. In addition, it is expected that the operational and NASA research centers will be closed to visitors and specialists of the agency will no longer work in schools as part of educational programs.

As previously reported, the cessation of funding that is hardest hit by NASA, which, coincidentally, marks the October 1 55th anniversary. In compulsory leave will leave 97% of the agency’s employees, and the post will be only those who are responsible for the operation of the International Space Station and the maintenance of the existing spacecraft.
