Switching to "figure" can bury regional television in Primorye - Valery Bakshin - RIA PrimaMedia

Director of the Higher School of Television VSUES told how to be a journalist and how to write the truth (VIDEO)

Vladivostok, December 27, PrimaMedia. Go to the “figure” can bury regional television, believes Director School of Television VSUES Valery Bakshin , said in an interview PrimaMediaLIVE problems seaside TV and attempts to solve them, about journalism in general and about the local in particular, the teachers and students of the university and its about what they seek and what they care about.

– Valery begin, perhaps, with a question that is asked often in social networks, which excites the older generation of journalists, as well as beginners. Are there, in your opinion, did the TV in the Primorsky Krai?

– There. Modern TV can not be without television that was. And in Vladivostok was magnificent television school. The trouble is that the federal channels taken away from us most of the airtime. Besides, life TV man – wildly expensive, but the money and the state, and emit very little edge. Naturally, left the program, which were very popular. Say Primorsky TV had 18 hours of airtime per day, of them now – four and a half, and it’s mostly news. Disappeared amazing children’s programs, art broadcasting, not only on television, but also on the radio. Listen to music, listen to the news and all … This is a crisis, and it applies not only to Primorye and the whole country. In Primorye, journalism has always been quite strong, stronger than in any other region of the Far East. And now, when we’re talking about television, can not but note that the STRC “Vladivostok” on the ratings is among the leaders in the RTR system. Plus we have a lot of private channels, including PrimaMediaLIVE. And by the way, in Khabarovsk kind.

– But we – not competitors, I think traditional television …

– How do you say, because many now go to the internet or “Cable”. And as soon as the country will launch a fully digital broadcasting, we will lose the regional broadcasting, the majority of urban and regional TV channels will go to the Internet. And although one of the multiplexes in accordance with the presidential decree written regional channel managers and STRC “Vladivostok” and “OTV-Prim” highly doubt that this is possible.

– Especially because next year all the experts predict a severe crisis in the Russian economy …

– Budget RTR already reduced this figure is not a secret that this year they receive from the budget 18 billion rubles next year – 16 rubles. It will be even worse.

– There are reports that the next year will be so severe that a number of local news agencies, newspapers and companies simply can not survive it. How much do you think this prediction can be justified?

– They are still closed. You can see how impoverished our media market? gotomu you need to have “good” relations with the administration of the province, city, district or very rich owners who benefit and interesting to invest money in it, but these people every day less and less. But, on the other hand, Russia is a rare situation: we journalism – not the economy, and politics. For example, in the United States issued a total of about two thousand newspapers, and we have more than 40 million, including more than 300 – in the Primorye Territory, when the whole of Japan 30. Do I need so many newspapers? But for electronic media, we are far behind. We have few TV channels, radio stations, and technological quality (not content) on the Internet, we are lagging behind Moscow, St. Petersburg. And the cost of the Internet leaves a lot to be desired.

– What then can be said about the remote area? Although we are that everything will be fine …

– You know, when I say that in a certain village, there is a satellite phone, I understand that there is now possible to call, but how to call! Especially because he’s one for all the village.

– Speaking about the cost of television programs and that the TV we have expensive, have you ever tried to calculate the approximate cost of a newsroom story?

– By STRC “Vladivostok” cost of one minute within 35 thousand rubles, so this story will be about twice as expensive.

– That is, roughly speaking, one 20-minute television news program will cost about 500 thousand rubles?

– News television journalism in general is expensive: you need to have the proper equipment, and transport. Plus a bunch of people who engaged in installation and so on. Then pay for the broadcast television signal. Cameras costing nearly one million rubles each. At the same time in 13 years that I worked in the STRC “Vladivostok”, we completely changed three times all cameras. And constantly changing technology: Technological Breakthrough goes wild, and what will happen tomorrow, nobody knows. Channels that were included in the second multiplex (in Moscow, he has already earned) must annually pay 994 million rubles for the fact that their signal has passed.

– All you remember as a professor and dean of the Institute of Mass Communication and FESU Palo. Then you went out and now heads the Higher School of Television in VSUES. Please tell me whether students are changing?

– Students are always different. It’s a paradox, but the teachers will understand me. That happens – gaining two groups, they are formed completely at random, but with one very nice work, but others do not even want to go. The first set of the Higher School of Television is just marvelous. Even the qualitative indicator. We have no budget places, but 18 of the 20 students of the course exam scored over 190 points. This is insanely good indicator. So the most interesting thing: we have come four more students from other areas. And journalists who supervise them in creative workshops, say a pleasure to work.

– Moscow newspaper “Moskovsky Komsomolets” is a children’s school of journalism and asked participants to write down what, in their opinion, should be a journalist. The majority of responses indicated that a journalist should always be honest, write and speak the truth, to obtain information at any cost, to work for food, drink and be always neat and beautiful.

– Let me start with the penultimate. Many years ago I came to Japan for the first time and in the office of the newspaper “Hokkaido Shimbun” I saw in the corner of two boxes: one with Russian vodka, the second – with whiskey. My question is why they are here, said: “I came from a journalist job, he mentally tired, and he had a bit to drink.” To which I told them that in my editorial this evening to drink and not to dostoyat. It is a tragedy that many good journalists simply take to drink. Job nervous and need to somehow remove the stress. Without money to live in a modern society is impossible. With regard to truthfulness, when I lecture on the basics of journalism, I note that in journalism there are two principles: truthfulness and objectivity. You can be truthful and non-objective: on the little things lead readers or viewers of radio anywhere. And you can not say everything, but to focus on the essentials, and be objective.

– Right now PrimaMedia engaged in such an inquiry, we care about the health of our readers hold expertise salads. And then in the net has information about what we are doing on the order of some supermarkets or in order to take money from someone. You feel such journalistic investigation needed?
